
Hot Bird began with a craving – and a lockdown. During the peak of COVID-19, husband and wife duo Kelvin and Ee Wen were stuck at home, like the rest of the world. But instead of baking banana bread or binge-watching shows, they found themselves on a mission: to hunt down the perfect spicy fried chicken.
When nothing quite hit the spot, they decided to take matters into their own hands. That hunt quickly turned into an obsession – testing recipes, perfecting crunch levels, dialing in just the right amount of heat – until they finally created a version that satisfied their own high standards.
In April 2022, they opened their first outlet in Damansara Uptown, and Hot Bird officially took flight.

We’ve got big plans. The dream is to grow Hot Bird across Malaysia and eventually into neighbouring countries. We’re also exploring the idea of turning our signature sauces and spice mixes into FMCG products, so fans can bring a little bit of Hot Bird home.
